February is Heart Health Awareness Month and good reminder to be true to your heart by keeping up on you heart health screenings such as routine blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol screening. This year the campaign is centered on the theme Let’s Talk About Cholesterol because nearly 1 in 3 adults have high blood cholesterol which is a major risk fact for heart disease and stroke. High cholesterol typically doesn’t have symptoms so many people don’t even know they have it or realize that they are at greater risk for heart disease. Talking about cholesterol can be tricky…there is good cholesterol and there is bad cholesterol. How do you know the difference? What do the numbers really mean? What are triglycerides? If you don’t know what all this means it is hard to understand and manage your cholesterol. In an effort to increase awareness about high cholesterol and management of it a Million Hearts is hosting a Facebook Live event on Monday, February 25, 2019 featuring a panel of cholesterol experts who will discuss and answer questions about high blood cholesterol and management.
