California Advocates Leading in Engagement, Accessibility, and Developmental Disability Services
(C.A. LEADDS):
Training Videos and Materials

Presented by:

In collaboration with VALOR, The Arc of California is proud to present “California Advocates Leading in Engagement, Accessibility, and Developmental Disability Services” (C.A. LEADDS) – a training series to provide professionals supporting people with developmental disabilities a foundation for being able to respond to sexual assault disclosures in a trauma-informed way.

The C.A. LEADDS video conference series will help build knowledge around the prevalence of sexual assault and people with disabilities, services available to survivors of sexual assault in the community, the impacts of trauma, and more.

This two-part web conference series will provide sexual assault advocates with a foundation for being able to provide appropriate support and advocacy to sexual assault survivors with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The first session in this series will provide information on the different types of intellectual and developmental disabilities, the landscape of services available to people with I/DD in California, the basics of conservatorship and mandated reporting, and how ableism intersects with sexual violence.
The second session in this series will explore the prevalence and incidence of sexual violence and people with I/DD and the impacts of trauma on people with I/DD. Additionally, the session will introduce person-centered services and provide information on accommodations and accessibility. Join VALOR and the Arc of California to build capacity for serving survivors with I/DD.
