Comcast Announces Expansion of Low Cost Internet Service; Low Income People with Disabilities Will Benefit

Last week Comcast announced eligibility changes to their Internet Essentials program. The program provides low cost internet services to low-income households who might otherwise not have access. No doubt many households which include people with disabilities will qualify. To be eligible, applicants simply need to show they are participating in one or more of a dozen different federal assistance programs, including Medicaid, SNAP, and SSI. This expansions means that reduced cost internet access will now be available to all qualified low-income households within the Comcast service area.
