Recent California legislation authorized a one-time payment of $600 to Supplemental Security Income (SSI)/State Supplementary Payment (SSP) and Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI) recipients to assist and provide relief from hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The stimulus, called the Golden State Grant Program, will be automatically sent to households. For more information on the disbursement process, visit the resources page.
Also enacted was the separate Golden State Stimulus, which is a one-time $600 or $1,200 payment per tax return. You may receive this payment if you receive the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) or file with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). For most Californians who qualify, you don’t need to do anything to receive the stimulus payment. To make sure you receive your payment, file your 2020 tax return by October 15, 2021.
