Resources for Recovering From the Fires

Resources for Recovering From the Fires

The Camp fire in Butte County and the Woolsey fire in Ventura and Los Angeles counties may be contained, but it will take a long time for those who lost their homes to recover. This is especially true for people with disabilities living on limited incomes.

There are resources available to help pick up the pieces. FEMA offers grants that do not need to be payed back which don’t affect eligibility for Social Security, Medicaid or other federal benefits. If you think you may be eligible for one of these grants visit the FEMA webpage specifically set up to help victims of our recent fires.

Cal OES has this more comprehensive brochure that contains contact information and links to a variety of agencies that fire survivors may need to contact. There is information on everything from getting assistance with immediate needs such as food and shelter, to longer term needs such as replacing lost documents and employment services. The brochure is also available in Spanish.

Recovery from a disaster is a long road, may no one have to walk it alone.
