Open enrollment for health insurance through Covered CA began 1, 2017 and will end on January 31, 2018. There are changes to some of the 2018 plans available through the exchange and unfortunately less navigators to assist people seeking coverage.  People with intellectual and developmental disabilities that work in competitive employment options may have employer offered health insurance or get coverage through Covered CA. It is always a good idea to review any changes in the health insurance policy during open enrollment (either in the employer plan or the individual market) to make sure your health care provider is still accepting specific plans. In addition, a recent University of California, Center for Health Policy Research, policy brief indicated that there are over 400,000 people in CA with IDD that do not actually qualify for Regional Center services which means they are often uninsured or at a minimum underinsured.   To get connected to a navigator and learn more about insurance options visit: http://hbex.coveredca.com/navigator-program/
