At a time of profound change for California’s disability community, The Arc of California is looking ahead with purpose, urgency and hope.
Today, we are proud to share our newly Board-approved 2026–2029 Strategic Plan, a three-year roadmap for how The Arc of California will strengthen its advocacy, expand its influence and reach, support the 20-chapter network, address critical gaps in the developmental disability system, and build a stronger and more sustainable organization.
Our mission remains at the heart of this work: to champion the rights, self-determination and full inclusion of Californians with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
Over the next three years, we are committed to five major areas of focus:
-
-
- Advocacy to protect rights, services and supports and shape public policy at the state and federal levels;
- Funding to strengthen the long-term sustainability of The Arc of California and the broader disability service system;
- Communication, information and training to equip our community with knowledge and tools to advocate for change;
- Chapter support to strengthen The Arc’s statewide network;
- Special areas of focus including caregiving, education, employment, housing, workforce development, criminal justice, transportation and system accountability.
-
But a strategic plan only matters if we turn it into action.
That will take the collective commitment of people with disabilities, families, advocates, chapters, community partners, funders and supporters who believe, as we do, that people with developmental disabilities deserve choice, dignity and full participation in community life.
