Disability Champion Assemblymember Jim Frazier Resigns from the Legislature

By Teresa Anderson, Director of Public Policy, The Arc/UCP California Collaboration

On December 1, 2021, Assemblymember Jim Frazier announced his resignation from the California State Assembly effective December 31, 2021. Assemblymember Frazier is leaving the Legislature to take an opportunity in the field of transportation. On behalf of The Arc/UCP CA Collaboration we want to THANK ASSEMBLYMEMBER JIM FRAZIER for his long-time support, dedication, and advocacy for and individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, friends and service providers.

Over the last decade he has been a champion for the disability community as he has authored, and passed, multiple pieces of legislation, fought tirelessly for allocations in the budget, chaired the select committee on intellectual and developmental disabilities, held listening sessions throughout the state, and always maintained an open-door policy for members of the community. We know that he holds our community near and dear to his heart and that he will always work to ensure inclusive policies wherever he goes. It goes without saying that he will be missed in the Legislature, but we wish him well in his new endeavor and look forward to working with him in a different capacity.

If you have had the pleasure of working with Assemblymember Frazier in the past and want to thank him for his dedication to the disability community be sure to send him a note of appreciation at assemblymember.frazier@assembly.ca.gov or you can leave a message for him at the Capitol or one of his field offices.
