The Inaugural California Disability Caregivers Conference a Resounding Success

We are thrilled to share that the first-ever California Disability Caregivers Conference was a record-breaking success, with more than 2,050 attendees joining us over three incredible days of learning, connection, and community.

Hosted virtually and presented by The Arc of California’s Caring Futures program in partnership with Parents Helping Parents, this free statewide event brought together family caregivers, self-advocates with disabilities, and professionals from across the disability community.

Together, we explored critical topics like housing, employment, mental health, estate planning, public benefits, and person-centered support, equipping caregivers with tools and insights to support their family members with disabilities across all stages of life.

“Day 1 was fantastic and informative. Thank you for your efforts. I am excited about today’s program,” said Maria Nagy who attended the first two days of the conference.

Many attendees were moved by the session with Dr. Zoe Shaw, psychotherapist and author, who spoke about mental health for the caregiver. “Dr. Zoe’s session was a breath of fresh air. To actually hear her say what many of us may feel on a daily basis, was comforting. Thank you for the encouragement for today and in the weeks to come,” anonymous caregiver.

This event was made possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors Judith and Robert Creed and Betsy Katz. Their commitment to caregivers and inclusive communities is what made this gathering free to attendees.

We are deeply grateful to our expert speakers and presenters, who generously donated their time, and shared their lived experience and knowledge in such an authentic way. Your contributions sparked important conversations, delivered practical guidance, and inspired thousands of families across California.

If you missed a session, or want to revisit your favorite moments, video highlights from the conference will be available soon on the Caring Futures website: caringfutures.org/conference.

We invite you to stay connected with us as we continue building a strong, informed, and empowered caregiver community:
