Calling All Advocates to Sacramento!

By Jim Frazier, Public Policy Director, The Arc / UCP California Collaboration and former Assembly Member

Governor Gavin Newsom’s proposed $1 billion cut to regional center services will be heard in committee next Wednesday, Feb 28 at 1:30 p.m. at the State Capitol, room 126 in Sacramento, California. It’s critical that our community demonstrate our opposition to this cut by showing up in-person to the hearing, which will be held by the Assembly Budget Sub-Committee #2 on Human Services.

The committee, which is chaired by Assemblymember Corey Jackson of Moreno Valley, will likely allow all attendees to provide brief testimony and share how you would be impacted by this cut. To learn more about the Governor’s proposed cut to services, read last week’s article, Promises Made Should Be Promises Kept.

Members of the community that are able to attend in-person are strongly encouraged to do so. Others can watch the Assembly hearing here: https://www.assembly.ca.gov/todaysevents
