The National Arc Family Gives $10,500 to the Arc of Butte County for Fire Relief

When the devastating Camp fire tore through Northern California, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities were especially impacted because The Arc of Butte County had a site for one of their day programs burn to the ground. Soon after the fire people from around the country donated to help The Arc of Butte County rebuild and, most importantly, give money to the direct support staff to help keep them from being forced to leave the area in search of work – and therefore leave the clients without services. This week The Arc US followed up those donations with a $10,500 gift from The Arc’s Disaster Relief Fund, which was funded by Arc chapters and members throughout the country.

Tom Leonardi, Executive Director of The Arc of Butte County, expressed his gratitude by saying: “It is extremely generous especially in light of all the other challenges that Arc chapters face nationwide. The amount and arrival time couldn’t be better planned; our goal was to distribute $2,000 to each displaced employee and we’ve already provided $1,000 to each. This will get us to our final goal and ensure that everyone gets the full amount to assist them as they seek housing and create a new household.”
