Chapter Affiliation (see chapters or membership to join individually if you are in a county without a chapter) Affiliated Chapters are an integral part of the nation’s largest volunteer organization committed to securing for all people with mental retardation the opportunity to choose and realize their goals of where and how they learn, live, work and play. The Arc and its chapters also provide vital support for families. In addition, affiliated chapters of The Arc benefit by: • Sharing in the strength of the organization as symbolized by use of The Arc’s name and logo. • Being connected to a national network for local best practices, shared strategies, education and training. • Direct involvement in formulating national policy on issues affecting the lives of children and adults with mental retardation and their families. • Having access to The Arc’s network of programmatic, private and public resources. • Participating in all activities of the organization, including conventions, conferences and special training. • Being furnished no-cost fidelity bond coverage (Blanket Honesty Policy) for officers, directors, volunteers and employees of chapters. Current coverage up to $100,000 with a $7,500 deductible. • Having access to valuable products and services to include: - free materials to assist in public awareness activities through The Arc’s media campaigns. - regular communications, including our newspaper, The Arc Insight, quarterly mailing of news, information and resources through The Arc Pak and the semi-monthly mailing of the Government Report. - representation in Washington, D.C., through The Arc’s Governmental Affairs Office. - specialized computer services such as labels, rosters and other materials to assist in membership efforts. - Consultation and technical assistance, best practices, and tools to support resource development and resource management. • Economies of scale through group purchasing and volume discounts on products such as: - The Arc’s Directors and Officers Liability Insurance. - The Arc’s National Property and Casualty Insurance.
