As part of the commitment to the Arc movement the local chapters have agreed to “advocate for children and adults with intellectual and related developmental disabilities and their families, whether or not these individuals are members or are served through programs of the chapter,” and the local, state, and national chapters all agree to share the following responsibilities:

Associate chapters are agencies who support the mission of The Arc and participate in policy discussions.These association chapters are not otherwise eligible to be a chapter of The Arc of the US or CA because they do not meet the minimum guidelines for a chapter (i.e., membership organization, non-profit, majority board representation of families and self-advocates, etc.) and the associated members are members of the state chapter.These associates pay an annual associate fee of $2400 (half to the state and half to the national office).
